Hyderabad, India (Municipal Survey, 1915)

Description
This is a mosaic of scanned images of the maps created by the 1912-1915 Municipal Survey of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. The survey was directed by Leonard Munn (1878-1935) to guide urban planning efforts in the wake of the disastrous 1912 floods. The original maps are at a scale of 50 feet to 1 inch (1:600) so building footprints, gardens, and streets are portrayed in great detail. The original survey divided the city in a system of 848 1000 foot N-S by 1400 foot E-W cells. The MIT raster contains 223 of these cells primarily in the city center and Chadarghat areas.
