EarthWorks Geospatial Catalog

North America (Electric Market Areas, 2008)

Description
The Platts Electric Market Areas geospatial data layer contains regions representing the geographic extent of electric price clearing markets. If a planning area is not affected by transmission constraints, then the market area will have one-to-one relationship with its associated planning area. If there are known transmission constraints dividing a planning area, two or more market areas will be created within a planning area to display the market extents.
