"Con licentia, et privilegio" on title page. Introductory text; extensive illustrated explanatory text. Descriptive text throughout. Map titles at top. Maps show topography, vegetation, waterways, ports. Illustrations of settlements (e.g. Map 18), flora, fauna (e.g. Map 4), ships, sea monsters. Map 27 has pictorial inset and descriptive text. Maps 29 and 30 are double hemisphere world maps, including the north and south poles. Map 36 has shield. Map 46 has decorative cartouche and compass rose. Map 65 has pictorial vignette depicting cannibalism. Map 69 is a nautical map of the world. This copy has marbled end papers. Pencil inscription inside front cover: 1; ink inscription on title page, near imprint. Marginalia on index and throughout Descrittione della geografia universale ..., Libro prima.
