- by Eman. Bowen. Relief shown pictorially. 2 bar scales on map, given in "Li or Chinese furlongs," and "English and French leagues." Oriented with north just to the left of top center. Prime meridians: London and Peking. Index of Chinese names of geographic and man made features. Decorative cartouche with pictorial vignette, compass rose, latitudinal and longitudinal lines. Shows topography, waterways. Descriptive text of origins in Jesuit survey 1708-1717. Appears as the thirty-ninth double map in Bowen's Complete atlas, or, distinct view of the known world, London, 1752. This copy has pencil inscription in lower left: 16.
