- Rufus Blanchard 140 Lake St. Chicago Relief shown by hachures. Includes table of distances: Pony express mail and telegraph route; and statistical chart: Census of 1860 in each territory. Shows topography, drainage, state and county boundaries, railroads, overland and ocean routes, treaty lines, mines. Features Native American territories. Collector's note: Shows gold mines in Idaho and Montana. Montana is shown which dates the map 1864 or later. It does not show the additions to Nevada made in 1866; thus the date 1865. The map appeared a few years after the mines in Idaho and Montana were discovered. Rare. 2 profile views: Profile of Lieut. A. W. Whipples T E route for Pacific R. R. lying between lat 33°43' and 38°01' : its length is 2096 miles -- Profile of the United States on latit. 42° N. from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.
