- Ceilan hujus insulae descriptionem a Cypriano Sanchez cosmographo Hispano delineatam, huic nostro operi inserendam, dedit Clarissimus vir Petrus Plancius. Relief shown pictorially. 2 bar scales on map, given in "Leucae Hispanicae" and "Milliaria Germanica." North oriented toward left of sheet. Shows Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Decorative cartouches, compass roses, rhumb lines, ships. Features topography, waterways, vegetation, fauna vignettes (e.g., elephant). Descriptive text throughout. Appears in Jansson's Nouveau theatre du monde ou nouvel atlas, Amsterdam: Hondius, 1639. This copy has pencil inscription in lower left: 71. French text on verso.
