- Relief shown by hachures. Latidudinal and longitudinal lines. Prime meridians: Greenwich (top) and Washington (bottom). 2 bar scales on map, given in "statute miles" and "geographical miles." Includes legend and table of distances: Emigrant route from Missouri to Oregon. Shows topography, drainage, political boundaries, cities and towns, forts, trading houses, railroads, routes (e.g.: Lewis and Clarkes route -- Doniphan's route 1847), battles (e.g.: Battle of Buena Vista.) Features Native American territories. "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1850 by Thomas Cowperthait & Co. in the Clerks office of the District Court of the eastern district of Pennsylvania." Collector's note: Eberstadt's catalogue entry states that this separate issue has additional mining towns not shown in W-GR 202. Inset: Gold region of California.
